In light of the recent ACLU attacks on Boy Scouts, and the ordering of the cessation of military support for the Boy Scouts, I felt it appropriate to share the text of a speech I recently gave at a Scouting event. I saw a bumper sticker at the Camporee this weekend that really made me think, it said, “ America is returning to the values that Scouting never left”. When you consider that exit polls from the Presidential election indicated that “Moral Values” were a high priority for voters,...

Is anyone genuinely surprised about the melee's of the past week? I have figured out what really instigated the brawl in Detroit, those professionals atheletes decided to follow in the footsteps of Dennis Rodman, obviously auditioning for the WWE, complete with illegal moves, submission holds, and assaults on rabid fans. They could not possibly have lost control in mass such as they did without some prior rehearsal. The rave reviews of their proformance were all but mi...

Hello again. I've been away from the computer for so very long, I hope all is well with everyone. I'll post some strange and new articles soon, I got a lot of material this summer working at Camp, substituting middle school art, and becoming the baby's daddy's daddy.

My 9 year old daughter pinched the crap out of me this morning, before I could get out of bed. Seems I didn't have any green on. She had set Leprechaun traps throughout the house last night, in hopes of a ransom of gold...and was not to happy they were empty this morn.. Head to toe she was dressed in green, stick on tattoos of clovers and rainbows adorned her cheeks ( she is sooo cute ). Her lunch had to include something green ( kiwi yogurt , yuck ) and tonight we dine on cabbage and corn...

I have been thinking about "getting older" a lot more than usual recently ( it's a tiring process, that usually requires a nap ). I don't know if it is a result of introspection, the fact that my teen son is now driving, or that my oldest son is an expectant father, but the thoughts seem to constantly fog my mind. I'm not THAT old, but the idea that I'm a grandfather in waiting tends to give the grey in my beard more legitimacy. ( I can't shave it off or I'll sport a double chin ) I'm fight...

The On-Star sattelite "motorist assistance" system is more than a helpful voice in the event of an emergency. Did you know they can track where you are, and where you have been, and how long it took you to get there ? Law enforcement can now trace your movements by On-Star with a warrant. General Motors hails On-Star as great for the stranded motorist as well, call for help, keys locked in, etc... Did you know they have the technology to STRAND and LOCK OUT you ? Yep, it is a serv...

I confess. I am guilty. I came to create this blog for an outlet, to think out loud, to comment on my daily life, but then I saw my points were low, and my readership as well, so I fell into the instigation syndrone, prompting an overall stimulating debate, however it's just not really my style. I emulated, if not, imitated, the style of several great bloggers here at JU, Oh my facts and representations are true, I do not retract a single statement made, or position taken, but I ...

From the comments on my last post I have concluded that poverty ( as defined by governmental agencies ) is nothing more than job security for the thousands of human services organizations that exist to prolong the situation, not solve it. If they solved the problems they wouldn't have a purpose. It is why our schools are inadiquate. To continue the cycle. It's why entitlement programs promote unwed mothers. To produce another generation for the cycle. It's why most Real Estate investor...

Overheard at Scout meeting; What do you call a blind deer ? No Idea. What do you call a blind deer with broken legs ? Still no idea. Bad huh?

This is my observation after 15 years making a comfortable living off of the poor. I have to confess, I am a "Affordable Housing Provider", with monies I made selling, financing, and repossessing cars, I bought Real Estate. Not fantastic mansions, but 800 to 1200 sq ft houses, a couple of duplexes, and 1 small apartment building ( 6 units). I do not participate in Title 8, or any other government subsidy program. Those programs provide me with plenty of people who do not qualify for anyone...

Grits, so simple to prepare, so easy to screw up. If by chance you have the opportunity to take a southern journey, and feel the desire to try a little of the local fare, you are doing yourself a terrrible disservice if you order grits from some chain resturant !!! Commecial preparation requirements are just not appropriate for good grits! The first problem is that grits are meant to have salt as a primary ingredient, without salt the corn just taste like mud. Secondly, just like small b...
