Hip-Hop generation strikes a low blow

Is anyone genuinely surprised about the melee's of the past week?

I have figured out what really instigated the brawl in Detroit, those professionals atheletes decided to follow in the footsteps of Dennis Rodman, obviously auditioning for the WWE, complete with illegal moves, submission holds, and assaults on rabid fans.

They could not possibly have lost control in mass such as they did without some prior rehearsal.

The rave reviews of their proformance were all but mimiced in South Carolina the very next day, as the Gamecocks decided that losing gracefully to arch rival Clemson would not do justice to the retirement of their legendary coach Lou Holtz. No, he should go out in the blaze of glory that is a bench clearing scrum, why the assaults on law enforcement providing security were icing on the cake.

Couple those events with the stabbing incident at some music award ceremony over a shove, and there you have it, public decorum, civility, self control, and personal responsibility are for all practical purposes passe.

It seems we have returned to the days of the old wild west, where survival of the fastest, meanest, and baddest prevailed. If your honor, dignity, space, or karma has been called into question, you must lash out physically to defend yourself, lest your manhood be questioned, or your personage be disrespected.

It does not seem that the validity of the offense or the veracity of the offender play any role in determining the response, it appears that it should only be met with brute physical violence irregardless of the potential liability or repercussions. ( hey, that is what lawyers are for).

Similar events have been excused over the years due to factors such as a lack of nurturing, the product of poor parenting, a by-product of the urban lifestyle, the failure of the public school system, and a lack of proper male role models attributed to the marginalization of the black male by the federal welfare system, lets throw in racism, and discrimination for a well rounded rationalization of pity and remorse.

That is all an unadulterated load of cow manure.

These actions are nothing more than a product of the influence of the Hip-Hop culture. The glorification of thuggery, prostitution, criminality, greed and all the accompanying debasement have led to this societal deficit in personal responsibility.

What has happened to public decoroum?

What has happen to the capacity to control ones emotions?

What has happened to personal responsibility?

What has happened to civility?

What has happened is those attributes of character do not sell tickets, or CD's, or a Clothing line, one has to be "on the edge" to be marketable to a clientle who has been convinced that they do not have a part to play in the general society.,It is their right to live outside of the cultural norm, to imulate the styles and actions of gangsters, to devalue life, objectify women, refuse to conform, loath education, and accept no responsibility for their actions.

Who controls this culture?

Why is it propagated ?

Who is really benefitting from the division of society ?

Questions I'll think about on the next post.................
