THE definitive site for the over 40 "starting over" crowd. Rambling rumbles of all description, refusing to be left behind.

I was watching "Lost" last night, during a commercial break on comes a "Diversity Targeted" ad for KFC repleat with
2 older gentlemen of color advising younger men of color that back in the day it was called Kentucky Fried Chicken.

All well and good, entertaining at least, BUT then the background music was an instrumental version of
"Sweet Home Alabama"........

WTF has Skynard got to do with marketing chicken to minorities ? The song doesn't even reference Chicken or Kentucky !!

Ronnie Van Zant has gotta be either ROFL up in heaven or spinnin' in his grave.

Gimme back my bullets.......

Next thing you know Aerosmith will be shillin' for Buick and Led Zep will hawk Caddy's ...oops they've already sold out there.

Even with those bizarre tie-ins the KFC soundtrack is WAY off the targeted markets ( for the song or portrayal ) it would be akin to
a Bosephus song in the background for Afro-sheen................

Driving in a truck with a confederate flag in the back window...

listenin' to SKYNYRD on the 8-track...

1/2 bottle of Jack in the glove box...

...five black youth pulled into a KFC parking lot.

What an inaccurate mental picture. Just doesn't work. That would be the *New* South?
