What is the purpose of wearing clothes 5 sizes too big?

Not only that but unlaced boots, tee shirts that hang below the knees, and jackets that resemble sleeping bags?

As a child, I recall my mother buying school clothes that may have been a little large, this in order to compensate for growth, but what I have seen as of late is beyond thrift, it's absurd.

I have heard that these fashions are based on Prison Chic, and I have seen them displayed in various Hip Hop/Rap videos, but why?

It is a constant battle with my 16 year old son, with a closet full of clothing, he is forever complaining that nothing fits him anymore, upon review it seems the problem is that everything fits him fine. He seems to be dissapointed that when he dresses for school the clothes do not appear to fall off of his frame.

I have wittnessed young men trip and fall while walking as their pants sag to the knees, I was attended to at a local music store by another young man who had to operate the cash register with one hand as he held up his pants with the other.

This is ridiculous, the socio-political situation, and the culturally sensitive implications be damned, it is a stupid fashion, stylized by convicts and wannabe moguls.

Amen. I have FIRST GRADERS who have too-baggy clothes because it's "cool". I also have first graders who dress like hussies because Mom does...yuck.
